Either a draw or their first league win of the season would lift Palace out of the relegation zone, following the weekend defeats for Ipswich Town, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, the Eagles have failed to win any of their last eight league meetings with Forest.

Six Premier League Cup matches, including Chelsea’s trip to AFC Bournemouth, will kick off at 19:00 BST.

Tuesday

European football returns with Arsenal and Aston Villa both in UEFA Champions League action.

Mikel Arteta’s side have an excellent recent home record in the group stage of the competition, not losing at the Emirates Stadium since September 2015. They will be eager to bounce back from a shock Premier League defeat at AFC Bournemouth when they host Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk at 20:00 BST.

Villa extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches with a league victory over Fulham on Saturday, and Unai Emery’s side have won both of their Champions League matches so far this season. They host a struggling Bologna, who are winless in Europe and have managed just one victory in Serie A.

Meanwhile, there are two fixtures in the Premier League International Cup for Under-21 sides, with Blackburn Rovers hosting Borussia Monchengladbach, and Brighton & Hove Albion welcoming Real Sociedad. Colchester United’s Under-21s take on QPR in the Premier League Cup.

Wednesday

Premier League leaders Liverpool will look to continue their perfect start to their Champions League campaign when they travel to RB Leipzig at 20:00 BST. The Germans have not picked up a point in Europe this season, while Arne Slot has overseen seven consecutive wins in all competitions for Liverpool.

Manchester City, who are still unbeaten across all competitions this season, host Sparta Prague, also at 20:00 BST. Pep Guardiola’s team are now on the fourth-longest undefeated run in Premier League history, spanning 31 matches, after beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 on Sunday.

Thursday

After the conclusion of the Champions League action, the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League will take centre stage.

Manchester United will be looking to register their first Europa League win of the season when they face Fenerbahce away at 20:00 BST, having drawn their first two fixtures. Tottenham Hotspur have won their opening two matches and host an AZ Alkmaar side at 20:00 BST who have lost their last four games in all competitions.

Chelsea continue their Conference League campaign with a trip to Panathinaikos at 17:45 BST. Enzo Maresca made multiple changes to his side when they claimed a 4-2 win over Belgian club Gent in their competition opener, earlier this month.

Meanwhile, a number of Premier League managers will provide injury updates and other team news when they hold press conferences ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

Friday

The Fantasy Premier League deadline for Gameweek 9 is at 18:30 BST.

Friday-night football returns in the Premier League with an intriguing East Midlands derby between Leicester City and Nott'm Forest at 20:00 BST. After failing to pick up a win in their first six matches on returning to the top flight, Leicester have triumphed in their last two encounters under Steve Cooper - the former Forest boss.

Away from the live action, the remaining Premier League managers will speak to the media to preview their weekend matches.

It will be a busy evening in Premier League 2 (PL2), with eight fixtures in total and both West Ham United and Brighton having the chance to go top of the table. Meanwhile, Nott'm Forest take on Coventry City in the Premier League Cup.

Saturday

There are five Premier League matches on Saturday, with Man City able to take top spot again if they beat Southampton at 15:00 BST. Guardiola’s side left it late to see off bottom-club Wolves last weekend, but will expect to maintain their unbeaten league streak against a promoted team who have earned just one point.

Also at 15:00 BST, high-flying Villa welcome Bournemouth, and Brighton host Wolves, knowing a win would put them above third-placed Arsenal, at least until Sunday evening. Meanwhile Ipswich seek their first league win when they travel to Brentford.

Fulham visit Everton at 17:30 BST to end the day's action. After losing their first four league matches, Sean Dyche's side have picked up eight points in their most recent four encounters. However, they have lost to Fulham in the clubs' last three meetings at Goodison Park.

In the pick of three PL2 fixtures, Liverpool will look to earn a fifth straight league win when they take on local rivals Everton at 14:00 BST.

Sunday

There will be plenty of movement near the top of the Premier League table across four matches on Sunday. Newcastle United could leapfrog sixth-placed Chelsea when they travel to Stamford Bridge at 14:00 GMT, with both sides winless in the league this month. Currently sandwiched between them in seventh place are Spurs, who travel to Palace at the same time.

The early season has not gone to plan for either Man Utd or West Ham, and both teams will be desperate for three points when the two meet at the London Stadium at 14:00 GMT.

The weekend’s Premier League action concludes with a match that could have major implications for the title, as Arsenal host Liverpool at 16:30 GMT.

The Gunners' fans will already be wondering how many more points they can afford to drop after their defeat at Bournemouth. Liverpool have the best defensive record in the league this season, but history suggests an entertaining encounter, with Premier League contests between the two sides over the last decade averaging almost four goals per game.
