A week that begins with the announcement of the Ballon d’Or winner also sees the release of the Premier League October awards shortlists and big matches at both ends of the table.

Monday

The winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or will be crowned at an evening ceremony in Paris, with 10 of the 30 nominees currently featuring in the Premier League: RodriRuben DiasPhil Foden and Erling Haaland (all Manchester City), Martin OdegaardDeclan RiceWilliam Saliba and Bukayo Saka (all Arsenal), Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) and Cole Palmer (Chelsea).

Man City are on the shortlist for Men’s Club of the Year, while Pep Guardiola could win Men’s Coach of the Year. There is also Premier League representation among those nominated for the Kopa Trophy (an award given to the best player under the age of 21) and Yashin Trophy (for goalkeepers).

Elsewhere, there are two Premier League 2 (PL2) fixtures at 19:00 GMT, with Arsenal travelling to Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest hosting Leeds United. Reading welcome Monaco in the Premier League International Cup for Under-21 sides.

Tuesday

The EFL Cup has reached the fourth round, with 13 Premier League clubs looking to seal their place in the quarter-final. Southampton and Brentford are first in action as they take on Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday respectively. The matches are due to kick-off at 19:45 GMT and 20:00 GMT.

A number of Premier League U21 sides are in Bristol Street Motors Trophy group stage action throughout the evening, including Man City’s trip to Grimsby and Chelsea’s London derby at Charlton Athletic.

The National League Cup group stage sees PL2 sides face clubs from the National League, with Tottenham Hotspur’s U21s travelling to Ebbsfleet United at 19:00 GMT. In the Premier League International Cup, Southampton face RB Leipzig and Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Dinamo Zagreb at 19:00 GMT.

Wednesday

Round four of the EFL Cup continues with all of the current Premier League top six in action. Reigning EFL Cup champions Liverpool travel to Brighton & Hove Albion at 19:30 GMT, while Man City visit Spurs at 20:15 GMT.

With four successive away fixtures in 11 days, Man City manager Guardiola has suggested he may field academy players in the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which he admitted is the lowest in his list of priorities: “We are going to take a decision if the players are fine, they are going to play against Spurs, but if a player has doubts, I’m not going to take a risk against Spurs. That’s for sure.”

There are three all-Premier League ties at 19:45 GMT as Villa host Crystal Palace and Newcastle United welcome Chelsea, having lost 2-1 in Sunday's league match at Stamford Bridge.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of Manchester United for the first time following the departure of Erik ten Hag on Monday, as his side take on Leicester City at 19:45 GMT.

Arsenal visit Championship opposition in the form of Preston North End at the same time.

Elsewhere, the Premier League International Cup for U21 sides continues at 19:00 GMT with Liverpool v Hertha Berlin, Man Utd v PSV Eindhoven and Middlesbrough v Lyon.

Thursday

October’s Premier League monthly awards shortlists will be announced throughout the day, starting with the nominees for the EA SPORTS Player of the Month at 11:00 GMT. The Barclays Manager of the Month shortlist will be revealed at 12:00 GMT, Guinness Goal of the Month at 13:00 GMT and Premier League Save of the Month at 14:00 GMT.

A number of Premier League managers will provide player updates and team news when they hold press conferences before the weekend’s fixtures.

Friday

The remaining Premier League managers will speak to the media ahead of their weekend matches.

A busy day of PL2 action begins with Newcastle's visit to Leeds at 13:00 GMT. There are eight matches at 19:00 GMT including London derbies between Chelsea and Arsenal, and Palace versus Spurs. League leaders Man City face Norwich City.

Saturday

The Fantasy Premier League deadline for Gameweek 10 is at 11:00 GMT.

Arsenal will look to keep track with the top two when they travel to Newcastle at 12:30 GMT in the first of seven Premier League fixtures.

Mikel Arteta’s side head into the weekend five points adrift of league leaders Man City as they face a Newcastle team without a win in five top-flight matches, a run that stretches back to mid-September.

Man City and Liverpool are both in action at 15:00 GMT. Guardiola’s City will expect to maintain their place at the top of the league standings when they travel to an AFC Bournemouth side they have beaten in each of their 14 Premier League meetings. Liverpool face a tricky match at Anfield against sixth-place Brighton, who have lost only once in 2024/25.

There are two big 15:00 GMT contests near the bottom of the table, where Southampton will be desperate to add to their solitary point when they host an Everton team unbeaten in five league matches. Ipswich Town are also seeking their first win as they welcome fellow promoted side Leicester. Elsewhere, Nott'm Forest could climb into the top four when they host West Ham United in another 15:00 GMT encounter. 

There is anotehr crucial basement battle in the day’s late kick-off as Wolves look to build on their dramatic late comeback against Brighton last weekend by claiming a first win of the season at home to Palace. Action at Molineux gets under way at 17:30 GMT. Oliver Glasner's side are buoyant after picking up their first three points of the season against Spurs last time out.

Meanwhile, there are four PL2 fixtures including Liverpool versus Wolves, while Stoke continue their hunt for a first league victory when they face Everton.

Sunday

Villa have finished directly one place above Spurs in each of the past two seasons and head into this 14:00 GMT match with the chance to move eight points above Ange Postecoglou's side.

The weekend rounds off with Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford at 16:30 GMT. Van Nistelrooy will be taking charge of his first league encounter and will hope to improve Man Utd's record of three wins in their nine Premier League matches this season. Victory for Chelsea could see Enzo Maresca’s team move into the top four.
