The No 1 transfer target for Gameweek 20, Chris Wood (£6.8m), delivered for his 979,158 new Fantasy Premier League owners in a good week for the most-popular recruits.

Wood scored and claimed a share of the bonus in Nottingham Forest's 3-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers to move up to third in the Fantasy forward standings.

He sits five points adrift of the second most-bought player of the round, Alexander Isak (£9.3m).

The Swede, who has featured among the top four recruits in each of the last six Gameweeks, extended his scoring streak to seven matches with a goal in Newcastle United's 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur

Including his double-figure haul against Liverpool, Isak has totalled 69 points since Gameweek 14, and was rewarded with two additional bonus points from Saturday's encounter.

GW20 most-bought players
Player Bought by Pts
Wood 979,158 8
Isak 616,956 7
Hall 490,346 2
Gordon 460,463 7
Aina 457,386 6

Isak's team-mate Anthony Gordon (£7.4m) was the most-bought midfielder for Gameweek 20 as managers looked to capitalise against an injury-hit Spurs side.

Gordon scored to continue his own good run of form. The England international has now registered an attacking return in each of his last seven starts.

And it could have been even better for his 460,000+ new owners, with Gordon having five shots including two big chances - situations where a player is expected to score - against Ange Postecoglou's side.

It wasn't all good news for those who snapped up Newcastle players, however, with Lewis Hall (£4.8m), the most-transferred in defender of the round, blanking.

Hall had notched 40 points across his four previous outings, persuading more than 490,000 managers to add him to their squads. But the corner-taking full-back had to settle for two points on this occasion, despite creating two chances.

Managers move from Cunha to Wood

Wood presented Matheus Cunha (£7.0m) owners with an easy swap.

The most-sold player of the round, dumped by more than 1.4m people, Cunha has been banned for two matches after being the subject of an FA misconduct charge following an incident at the end of the Matchweek 16 match against Ipswich Town

He missed Monday's meeting with Forest and will also sit out the FA Cup third-round tie at Bristol City.

Costing just £0.2m less than Cunha, Wood has been lethal in front of goal this season, scoring with 12 of his 36 attempts, giving him the best conversion rate of any forward to start more than one match.

He was most sought-after Cunha replacement with 474,263 Fantasy bosses moving directly from the Brazilian to the New Zealander.

Wood's team-mate Ola Aina (£5.2m) completed the top five transfers in.

Aina picked up his ninth clean sheet of the campaign in Gameweek 20, helping him to consolidate his position as the leading defender in Fantasy. He has totalled 95 points so far, already more than double his tally from last season.

With the exception of Liverpool at home in Gameweek 21, Nuno Espirito Santo's side face opponents rated at three or below in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR) across their next five matches.
