Mohamed Salah moved up the all-time Premier League goalscorers rankings above Thierry Henry but his hopes of matching the Frenchman’s record Golden Boot tally came under increasing threat from the in-form Alexander Isak, while Erling Haaland kept up his chase.
The Liverpool forward scored the second goal in the 4-1 home win over Ipswich Town to take his tally to 176 in the Premier League, one more than Arsenal legend Henry.
He is now the outright second-best overseas Premier League goalscorer, eight behind Sergio Aguero’s total of 184.
Salah is also only a goal behind Frank Lampard, who is sixth in the overall rankings.

The goal also took Salah to a league-leading 19 goals for the season, but he came under increasing pressure in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot from Isak, who scored twice in Newcastle United’s 3-1 win at Southampton to cut his gap to the Egyptian to two goals.
That had moved Isak level with Haaland on 17 goals, but the Manchester City striker restored his position as second overall and the one-goal gap with Salah, with a clinical strike against Chelsea.
Both Isak and Haaland have closed the gap on Salah in the last five Premier League matches. Haaland has struck five times in that period, while Isak has six goals. Salah has scored four goals in the same time.
Salah is looking for a fourth Golden Boot to follow up on those won in 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2021/22. This would equal Henry, who claimed the prize in 2001/02, 2003/04, 2004/05, 2005/06.
