AFC Bournemouth v Manchester City

AFC Bournemouth will be without Simon Francis (hamstring), Junior Stanislas (groin) and Callum Wilson (knee).

Jermain Defoe is close to full fitness after a groin strain and in contention to start.

Manchester City's Benjamin Mendy could be involved for the first time since signing from Monaco.

Ilkay Gundogan (knee) is still not fit and Kyle Walker is suspended.

Did you know?

Manchester City are one of only two clubs to have won away at AFC Bournemouth in both 2015/16 and 2016/17 in the Premier League (the other being Chelsea).

Raheem Sterling has scored five Premier League goals against Bournemouth; more than versus any club in the competition. This includes his only Premier League hat-trick in October 2015.

Sergio Aguero has scored in seven successive Premier League away appearances. Only Robin van Persie (nine matches) has a better run.

Manchester City have won eight and drawn one of their Premier League matches in August since 2015/16.

What the managers say

Eddie Howe: "When we’ve reviewed the games we’ve had against them our last game here was the most effective and we were in the game for a long time. We have to take the positives from that game and try and build on them."

See: Will Defoe start?

Pep Guardiola: "AFC Bournemouth are a team who want to play. The manager is so good in those terms. They start with two defeats but sometimes that can happen."

See: When will Gundogan be back?
