West Ham United have announced the signing of Fabian Balbuena from Corinthians.
The centre-back has joined West Ham for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.
"I'm really excited for this new challenge and my target is to meet the demands of the Premier League," the 26-year-old told the club’s official website.
Balbuena's displays for Corinthians have won him seven caps for Paraguay. Last year the player nicknamed "El Comandante" featured 58 times for the Brazilian side, scoring six goals.
"He is a player of great strength, character and personality," West Ham's director of football Mario Husillos, said.
"To be captain of Corinthians, one of the biggest clubs in South America, requires a very strong mentality."
Balbuena is West Ham’s sixth signing of the summer, after Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski, Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko.
West Ham open their 2018/19 Premier League campaign away to Liverpool on Sunday, 12 August.
