Nolito rescued a point for Manchester City after Everton goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg had saved two penalties in the 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
City dominated the match but Kevin De Bruyne, who was handed spot-kick duties in the absence of the benched Sergio Aguero, saw his 43rd-minute penalty saved.
Romelu Lukaku's sixth Premier League goal of the season put Everton ahead on 60 minutes with a cool finish after a breakaway.
This prompted Pep Guardiola to introduce Aguero, but the striker was denied from the spot by Stekelenburg 10 minutes later.
Stekelenburg was beaten two minutes later through Nolito's close-range header, although the Everton goalkeeper had the final say with a stunning save on to a post from De Bryune's long-range strike.
