Sunderland recorded a second successive Premier League win, beating Hull City 3-0 at the Stadium of Light, thanks to a Victor Anichebe double.
Hull started the brighter but could not get past Jordan Pickford, who denied Sam Clucas.
Sunderland broke the deadlock on 34 minutes with Jermain Defoe’s 150th Premier League goal, a typical smart finish.
After a floodlight failure that forced the players off for five minutes early in the second half, when play resumed Sunderland doubled their lead when Anichebe scored with his left foot.
Pickford made a fine save to protect his clean sheet late on before Anichebe made sure of the points, even if Papy Djilobodji was sent off for the home side after a second booking.
