United took control of the second half and doubled their lead when Ibrahimovic finished past Jordan Pickford, taking his tally to eight goals in seven Premier League appearances.
The Swede turned provider for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who added a third with a spectacular flick, before Fabio Borini's fine strike pulled a goal back in stoppage time for Sunderland, who remain in the bottom three.
