Billy Sharp scored from the penalty spot to finally give Sheffield United their first win of the season, as they overcame 10-man Newcastle United 1-0.
Sharp sent goalkeeper Karl Darlow the wrong way in the 73rd minute to score his 100th league goal for Sheff Utd, after a handball had been awarded against Federico Fernandez following a referee review on the pitchside monitor.
It was no more than the Blades deserved after they dominated the contest.
Darlow denied David McGoldrick, who later headed over, and Jayden Bogle, while Rhian Brewster hit the post late on.
The Magpies' cause was not helped by the dismissal of Ryan Fraser on the stroke of half-time after he received two bookings in the space of three minutes and three seconds.
Their first victory in 18 Premier League attempts takes bottom side Sheff Utd up to five points.
Newcastle remain 15th on 19 points.
