Joe Willock made Premier League history with the only goal to edge Newcastle United past Sheffield United at St James' Park.
Newcastle started brightly in front of 10,000 returning home fans, with Aaron Ramsdale forced into a superb save to deny Jonjo Shelvey.
In first-half stoppage time, Willock became the youngest player to score in six consecutive Premier League matches when he headed in Jacob Murphy's cross.
Sheff Utd pressed for an equaliser and it almost came on 76 minutes, but David McGoldrick's effort struck the crossbar.
Victory moves Newcastle up to 15th on 42 points, while relegated Sheff Utd suffer a joint-record 29th defeat in a PL season.
