An early goal from Anwar El Ghazi was enough for Aston Villa to earn a 1-0 victory at Leeds United.
El Ghazi collected a mishit shot from Ollie Watkins in the fifth minute before firing beneath Illan Meslier from close range for the only goal at Elland Road.
Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made a superb stop to deny Tyler Roberts a first-half equaliser, while El Ghazi was twice kept out by brilliant Meslier saves.
Villa came close to a second on 67 minutes, but Tyrone Mings' header deflected off Liam Cooper and went narrowly over.
At the other end, Raphinha had a great chance for a last-minute equaliser but headed wide.
A first victory in three matches keeps Villa eighth on 39 points, one behind sixth-placed Liverpool and Everton, in seventh.
Leeds are two places below on 35 points.
