Dele Alli justified his return to the line-up with a key role in the decisive goal as Tottenham Hotspur boosted their top-four bid with a second successive win, beating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage.
Making his first Premier League start since the opening weekend of the season, the 24-year-old forced an own goal from Tosin Adarabioyo that gave Spurs their victory.
Harry Kane had headed straight at Alphonse Areola from six yards before Jose Mourinho’s side took a 19th-minute lead.
Dele met Son Heung-min's low cross, and his flicked effort deflected into the net off Adarabioyo.
Fulham responded, with Mario Lemina shooting over from 12 yards and Hugo Lloris tipping Joachim Andersen’s header over the bar before denying Adarabioyo again from the resulting corner.
Josh Maja thought he had levelled when he fired into the bottom-left corner, but the goal was overturned after a Video Assistant Referee review for a handball against Lemina.
Spurs had to battle to hold on to their lead, but Kane nearly put them out of sight late on. Played in by Erik Lamela, he was thwarted by Areola 10 yards out.
Spurs climb to eighth, four points outside the top four, while Fulham remain three points from safety in the relegation zone.
