Brentford continued their unbeaten start to the season with a goalless draw at Selhurst Park, denying new Crystal Palace head coach Patrick Vieira a first win.
Palace almost went ahead in the seventh minute when Conor Gallagher struck the underside of the crossbar.
The loanee from Chelsea also drew a save from David Raya on 32 minutes as Palace went close again.
Brentford grew into the match and had two good chances at the end of the first half. First, Bryan Mbeumo clipped the bar from a direct free-kick, then Ivan Toney saw his left-footed shot saved on the stroke of half-time.
Mbeumo continued to be at the heart of Brentford’s threat in the second half.
The Frenchman put a free-kick narrowly wide on 60 minutes before teeing up Toney for a header that went over.
Palace pushed late on but Jordan Ayew sliced his volley wide leaving both sides to rue their missed chances.
