Everton manager Rafa Benitez:

"It's a pity – we didn't play well in the first half and didn't take a couple of chances we had without playing well. We didn't take the chances we had in the second half, when we showed a lot of character. We have to see what we did in the second half for 90 minutes; we have to improve"

STAT - Wolves on a roll
Wolves head coach Bruno Lage:

"In the first 45 minutes we managed the ball in the way we wanted, we found the space and from the chances we created, 2-0 was very good for us. Everton changed a little bit in the second half and we didn't adapt, we didn't press the ball like we had and we gave them some chances but we had some too. Over the 90 minutes, it's three deserved points for us"

THUMBS UP - Jimenez takes Molineux acclaim
Premier League - Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton

Premier League pundit Joleon Lescott:

"Raul Jimenez is hugely important for Wolves. It's vital he scores goals for his confidence, but his work-rate warrants him scoring goals. His confidence might have been dampened by the fact he hasn't scored many but he's so aware for the goal and the execution is absolutely perfect."

The Scout says:

"Raul Jimenez (£7.6m) was presented with two big chances against Everton. The Mexican has produced an attacking return in each of his last four starts, with two goals and three assists."

Wolves match winner Raul Jimenez:

"It feels good to be on the scoresheet. We played a really good game, really good first half, we suffered a bit more in the second half but that happens sometimes. The coach says to us to work hard and we have a lot of confidence in each other"

Struggling on the road 🛣
On the road, Everton have lost three of their last six in the Premier League, winning just one (D2), after losing just one of 14 before that, winning nine (D4).
POOR FORM - Three defeats on the spin for Everton
Premier League - Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton

Premier League pundit Owen Hargreaves:

"Wolves are building something nice. They're a good watch, they're good in possession and they're doing to have a good season. They're well balanced; they're defensively solid, two good players in midfield and they've got good attacking players. Trincao is really tricky and Hwang has the power. They've not scored many goals but I think that's going to improve."

Wolves captain Conor Coady:

"First half we were outstanding. We wanted to keep that going; we worked so, so hard, we nullified Everton to virtually nothing and we created some things going the other way too. We wanted to be aggressive, keep the ball as much as we can. We knew Everton were going to change but we stuck at our task and it's a fantastic win"

Good win for Wolves:
Red-hot Wolves 🔥
Since the start of September, Wolves have picked up 16 out of a possible 21 points in the Premier League (W5 D1 L1), with only Chelsea (18) and Arsenal (17) managing more in that time.
Premier League pundit Joleon Lescott:

"Fully deserved for Wolves, who've been one of the form teams in the league. They dominated in the first half, I didn't expect them to be able to do that for 90 minutes, but that's where the damage was done."

BONUS POINTS AS IT STANDS

3 - Jimenez
2 - Iwobi
1 - Keane

SA CELEBRATES - Job done for Wolves keeper
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton - Premier League

Premier League pundit Andy Townsend:

"Everton were better second half, they had a bit of a go, but the home team have deserved their three points. Wolves just got a bit anxious in the second half; they weren't sure whether to protect what they have or go for it, but they just sat back and invited Everton on to them."

FULL-TIME Wolves 2-1 Everton

There will be no last chance for Everton to snatch a point as Martin Atkinson blows his whistle for the final time. First-half goals from Max Kilman and Raul Jimenez proved to be enough for Wolves to earn all three points. The visitors hit back with Alex Iwobi but the hosts held on for the win.

SUB Wolves 2-1 Everton (90+4 mins)

Final change made by Wolves. Hwang Hee-chan comes off to be replaced by Fabio Silva for the closing seconds. We've got little over a minute still to play. Will there be one last chance for Everton?

NO WAY JOSE - Sa claws away Gordon's header
Premier League - Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton

Wolves 2-1 Everton (90+2 mins)

It's taken 92 minutes but Martin Artkinson has got his cards out for the first time this evening. He shows a yellow card to Seamus Coleman and Rayan Ait Nouri.

SUB Wolves 2-1 Everton (90+1 mins)

Wolves make a late change. Raul Jimenez takes the plaudits from the Molineux crowd as he's replaced by Leander Dendoncker. As things his goal is enough for all three points for Wolves.

Everton also make a change with Salomon Rondon replacing Demarai Gray.

Made a decent impact already:
Premier League pundit Andy Townsend:

"It's a great effort from Anthony Gordon and it's a top save because it came at Jose Sa so quickly. Mason Holgate is following in and it just goes over his head by a fraction. I do like Anthony Gordon - he's always looking to get on the ball and make things happen."

Wolves 2-1 Everton (87 mins)

Everton swing a corner in from the right that is met by Anthony Gordon only a few yards out. Jose Sa produces a stunning away to his right to beat the ball away from goal and away from Mason Holgate who was lurking for a tap-in.

Wolves 2-1 Everton (85 mins)

Everton haven't given up hope of a late equaliser. There's not long left to go here but still enough time for a couple more chances to fall the way of the visitors.

OFF TARGET - Trincao misses chance to clinch it
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton - Premier League

SUBS Wolves 2-1 Everton (80 mins)

Changes are being made by both sides here. Anthony Gordon comes on to take the place of goalscorer Alex Iwobi.

Daniel Podence is the man to replace Trincao for Wolves.

Premier League pundit Andy Townsend:

"Wolves have had a couple of chances to put this one to bed. They've got to try and sharpen the focus a little bit more and get through this final quarter of an hour, plus whatever's added at the end of the game."

Wolves 2-1 Everton (76 mins)

Wolves have a free-kick right on the edge of the Everton box following a sliding challenge by Mason Holgate. Martin Atkinson originally gave a penalty but was made aware by his assistant the contact came outside of the box. Nothing comes of the set piece.

MAGIC ALEX - Iwobi halves Everton deficit
Wolves v Everton

Wolves 2-1 Everton (70 mins)

Wolves almost restore their two goal cushion. Hwang Hee-chan works the ball into Trincao in the box. He keeps hold of the ball only a few yards out from goal and somehow drags a right-footed effort wide of goal. That really should have been a third for Wolves.

Back in the balance!
Premier League pundit Andy Townsend:

"Great strike from Alex Iwobi, really good hit. They're on the front foot at last Everton, they're squeezing and pressing the ball. Alex Iwobi hits it hard and true, he keeps his head down and gets over it and no chance for Jose Sa. They're back in it."

GOAL! Wolves 2-1 Everton (IWOBI, 66 mins)

Everton are back in it and it's Alex Iwobi who has pulled one back for the Toffees. Ben Godfrey's low drive from distance is blocked by Conor Coady but only as far as Iwobi who beats Jose Sa from inside the area.

WOLVES ESCAPE - Richarlison crowded out at the last
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton - Premier League

Wolves 2-0 Everton (63 mins)

Jose Sa is taking no chances when being pressed by Richarlison now as he belts the ball upfield. The Wolves defence are being tested a lot more than they were in the first 45 minutes. So far it's so good for the hosts who are dealing with the crosses into the box.

Wolves 2-0 Everton (61 mins)

Almost a third for Wolves as Nelson Semedo lifts a ball across goal to Raul Jimenez to get his head on. The Mexican generates as much power as he can with his header but only smacks the outside of the post. Huge let-off for Everton who have been much improved this half.

Premier League pundit Andy Townsend:

"Everton have started better but they've got to drag themselves out of this slump that they found themselves in in the first half. When they've got Gray and Townsend running at people, they've looked good this season but they've barely shown that so far tonight. They've got to get them more into the game, and Richarlison has barely had the ball into his feet."

GRAY MATTERS - Everton midfielder gets a shot away
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton FC - Premier League

Wolves 2-0 Everton (55 mins)

Almost a horror moment for Jose Sa. He is sloppy on the ball and gives it away to Richarlison only a few yards out from goal. A combination of Sa and Conor Coady prevent the Everton man from pulling one back.

Wolves 2-0 Everton (53 mins)

Demarai Gray gets into the box and his effort on goal is blocked behind for a corner. The corner is a waste as it only picks out the gloves of Jose Sa.

Wolves 2-0 Everton (51 mins)

More even feel to this game now as Everton have come out with a bit more intent. They're playing some nice football in the final third looking for that shooting chance.

RICHARLISON REGRET - Brazilian's barely been involved
Premier League - Wolverhampton Wanderers v Everton

Wolves 2-0 Everton (48 mins)

Andros Townsend delivers a dangerous ball in from the right-hand side. Conor Coady gets his head on the ball and almost turns it into his own net. Brighter from the visitors.

Wolves 2-0 Everton (46 mins)

We're back under way at Molineux and Everton have made a change at the interval. Fabian Delph has come out for the second half replacing Jean-Phillipe Gbamin.

Premier League pundit Joleon Lescott:

"Hugely disappointing from Everton's point of view – they haven't had a foothold or a passage of play, they haven't looked like scoring and they've been too easy to pass through. It's a worrying performance and it's not a good sign, so I think Rafa Benitez is going to have to make changes."
