For the 40 players of FIFA 19, the ePremier League Final starting on Thursday will be a surreal experience, but none more so than for Dan Potts.
He will be playing for the inaugural trophy in London for his beloved Everton in the Xbox category.
When the final is broadcast via Sky Sports and the Premier League's digital channels, it will feel a long way from where it all began for the Evertonian.
"I just started off playing FIFA with my dad in my bedroom," he says. "Now it's come to representing Everton in London. It's crazy, really."
Even more crazy was how Dan reached this week's final, where he has been drawn in Group D.
In this month's Everton club playoff final, he was trailing 3-0 at half-time but somehow came back to win 5-4 thanks to a late winner from a player Dan might not usually cheer for.
"From three-nil down it's hard," he said. "The last goal was the winner: a [Marcus] Rashford bicycle-kick with 10 minutes left!
"I couldn't believe it. I was so happy. I was overcome with emotions because it's [representing] the club I love."
