A dream semi-final between Liverpool and Manchester United will take place in the ePremier League after No 1 seed Donovan Hunt (F2Tekkz) and Josh Jones (Jonesy17FIFA) both overcame scares in their Xbox quarter-finals.

Liverpool’s Xbox representative Hunt was 2-0 down against Southampton’s Reece Rusher (Rusher7x) in the first leg before battling back to draw the match.

After pulling ahead early in the second leg, Hunt was pegged back again, but showed why he is the favourite by scoring three more times to win 6-3.

“I went 2-0 down and I was thinking, ‘I’m out’, but I managed to scrape through and it’s United now so I can’t wait," says Hunt.

“If Jonesy played for anyone else I’d want him to win, but he plays for United and I hate United.

"Tomorrow we’ll be friends but that’s it. Hopefully, I can do it for Liverpool.”

United’s Jones is the 12th seed but after dominating the group stages he made sure the Red Devils are the only club with both representatives remaining in the final with a 6-4 victory over AFC Bournemouth’s Marc Marley, thanks in part to a lucky own goal.

Fulham are also in the last four after edging past Tottenham Hotspur in a penalty shootout. Diogo Mendes (SCP Diogo) beat Kylem Edwards (Lyricz) 5-4 on spot-kicks, with Paul Pogba missing his penalty for both sides.

Mendes faces another derby in the semi-finals after Arsenal’s Tassal Rushan (Tass) beat Manchester City’s Connor Keys (iBattle Cat) 2-0.
