Ole Gunnar Solskjaer celebrated becoming Manchester United’s permanent manager with a 2-1 win against Watford.
Man Utd opened the scoring against the run of play after 28 minutes, with Luke Shaw’s through-ball finding Marcus Rashford, who finished past Ben Foster.
Watford continued to dominate in the second half, Gerard Deulofeu twice forcing David De Gea into saves, while Will Hughes curled wide.
But Solskjaer saw his team go 2-0 up with 18 minutes remaining. Anthony Martial scrambled the ball in from substitute Jesse Lingard’s cross.
Watford grabbed a late consolation through Abdoulaye Doucoure after a one-two with Isaac Success.
United move up to fourth on 61 points, one clear of Arsenal, who play on Monday. Watford drop to 10th, on 43 points.
