AFC Bournemouth's Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser combined for two goals on Saturday to close in on a 24-year-old Premier League record.
In their 5-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion, Wilson and Fraser both scored a goal assisted by the other, meaning they have now linked up for 11 goals so far this season.
Their partnership is now the joint second-best in a single Premier League season.
The two goals on Saturday moved them above Robbie Fowler and Stan Collymore, who combined for 10 goals at Liverpool in 1995/96, and Dennis Bergkamp and Nicolas Anelka, who emulated that feat with Arsenal three seasons later.
Wilson and Fraser are level with the 11 goals that the partnerships of Kevin Gallen and Les Ferdinand, of Queens Park Rangers, and Alan Shearer and Mike Newell, of Blackburn Rovers, achieved in 1995/96.
With four matches of the season remaining, Fraser and Wilson now lie just two behind the all-time record of 13 goals combined, set by Shearer and Chris Sutton during Blackburn's title-winning campaign in 1994/95.
Shearer and Sutton, like Gallen and Ferdinand, had the advantage of 42 matches per season instead of the current 38.
