Brighton & Hove Albion's Aaron Connolly has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Season for 2018/19.
The 19-year-old striker was the leading scorer in PL2 Division 1 with 11 goals for Brighton, before injury and then a loan to League One side Luton Town. He also got five goals in the EFL Trophy and one in the Premier League International Cup.
"If someone had told me at the start of the season I would win it, I would have laughed," Connolly told Seagulls TV.
"But it’s been an unbelievable season personally and for the team. I'm proud to have topped it off with this."
He received four PL2 Player of the Month nominations throughout the season, winning once in November.
Connolly was selected by a panel of the Premier League Football Development Department ahead of eight other nominees: Rafael Camacho (Liverpool), Morgan Feeney (Everton), Adam Idah (Norwich City), Daniel Loader (Reading), Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal), Bassala Sambou (Everton), Will Smallbone (Southampton) and Ellias Sorensen (Newcastle United).
