Fourteen years ago today Park Ji-sung joined Manchester United and started what would turn out to be a record-breaking and inspirational Premier League career.
In seven seasons at Old Trafford Park played 134 times in the competition and in just his second season the South Korean became the first Asian player to be crowned a Premier League champion.
He scored 27 goals in all competitions, a third of which came against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, and in 2007/08 became the first UEFA Champions League winner from Asia.
'He's my idol'
Park's achievements inspired the next generation of Asian players to believe they could one day star in England, including Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min, the highest-scoring Asian in Premier League history.
"I can't compare to Ji," Son said in an interview with the Daily Mail in 2018. "He is a legend and my idol. They are still so proud of him at home.
"It's difficult for an Asian to play in the Premier League. It still is. And he was the one who did it first so it was even harder for him. I am still hoping to play like him and bring fans like him and have an impact like him."
