On this day nine years ago, David Silva became a Premier League player when he signed for Manchester City.

Arriving from Valencia on 14 July 2010 as a world and European champion, expectations were naturally high for the Spain international and he has certainly exceeded those in his nine seasons at the club so far.

Silva has lifted the Premier League trophy on four occasions and with 282 appearances and 54 goals already under his belt, he is unquestionably one of the best overseas players to have graced the League.

He is currently in China ahead of Man City's Premier League Asia Trophy campaign.

City open their Premier League season at West Ham United on Saturday 10 August.
