Everton are seeking to maintain their recent unbeaten record in home openers, having won three and drawn four of their last seven since losing to Queens Park Rangers in 2011/12.

Watford travel to Goodison Park hoping to avoid suffering a fifth consecutive Premier League defeat for the first time since 2016/17.

Team news

Morgan Schneiderlin serves a suspension and is sidelined for Everton, who are also without the injured Fabian Delph (groin).

Andre Gomes (ankle) remains doubtful, but Leighton Baines is "back working with the squad" confirmed manager Marco Silva, who will also decide whether to hand Alex Iwobi his Everton debut.

Summer signing Danny Welbeck looks "ready" for a Watford debut, believes head coach Javi Gracia, but Ismaila Sarr may not feature as he builds up his fitness.

Adam Masina, Domingos Quina and Nathaniel Chalobah have been passed fit. Adalberto Penaranda (thigh) is the only player not currently training.

Did you know?

Everton are looking to win five consecutive Premier League home matches for the first time since a run of eight under Ronald Koeman in April 2017.

The Toffees kept five consecutive home Premier League clean sheets at the end of the 2018/19 season. Only once before have they had a longer such run in the competition, keeping seven in a row between March and September 2013.

Fourteen of the last 15 goals scored in Premier League meetings between Everton and Watford have been scored in the second half.

Despite leading in three of their last four matches at Goodison Park, Watford are winless in all 13 away matches against Everton in all competitions (D2 L11).
