Southampton ended a four-match losing run, moving off the bottom of the Division 1 table and above Manchester City by beating them 2-0.
Both goals came in the space of three first-half minutes. Callum Slattery converted a penalty won by Christian Norton, who volleyed in the second.
City responded in the second half but could not prevent a defeat that leaves them at the foot of the table on nine points. Saints are a place and a point above.
