Second-placed Manchester United survived a late scare to beat Newcastle United 2-1 and maintain their pursuit of West Ham United in Division 2.
Man Utd, who included Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah in their line-up as the pair step up their recovery from long-term injuries, went ahead on 15 minutes through Jude Swailes' own goal.
It was 2-0 on 23 minutes when Garner, pictured, fired in off a post, and the hosts nearly extended their lead when Arnau Puigmal struck the woodwork.
Instead, it became 2-1 in the 89th minute as Elias Sorensen halved the deficit, but Man Utd held on.
They move one point behind leaders West Ham, having played an extra match. Newcastle drop to 10th.
