Coronavirus: Clubs support in the community

In the wake of the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, Premier League clubs are keen to ensure their fans they will do all they can to support and assist them.

Burnley are the latest side who are stepping up to help those in need in their community by urging supporters to ensure the foodbank can continue to function.

Since the start of the campaign, Burnley FC in the Community have worked with Burnley Supporters' Groups to give food items to those in need.

But with the postponement of all Premier League fixtures until at least 30 April, donations to the foodbank have been impacted.

Burnley captain Ben Mee and the rest of his squad have donated money to the foodbank and this has been matched by the club.

"We know there are going to be difficult times for people and their families with regards work and income," Mee told the club's official website.

"The club is behind people in the community, as the players are. The boys wanted to do their bit to help out. And if there is a need for other things we will look at that, as well."
