Raheem Sterling's first-half double set Manchester City on their way to a 4-0 victory against Watford that means the Hornets' relegation battle will go to the final day.

Watford, who were managed by Hayden Mullins after Nigel Pearson's departure, went behind on 31 minutes when Sterling fired the ball into the top-left corner.

Sterling scored his 19th goal of the season to double Man City's lead on 40 minutes, when he followed up quickly after his penalty was saved by Ben Foster. The City winger was fouled by Will Hughes for the spot-kick.

Phil Foden added a third on 63 minutes after Sterling's effort was parried by Foster.

And it was 4-0 just four minutes later, this time Aymeric Laporte heading in from Kevin De Bruyne's 19th assist of the campaign.

After Aston Villa beat Arsenal 1-0 in Tuesday's late match, Watford slip to 18th on goal difference. They are also level on points with 19th-placed AFC Bournemouth.

Second-placed Man City are up to 75 points.
