In the 2019/20 season, Video Assistant Referees (VAR) were used for the first time in the Premier League.
Over the course of the campaign, more than 2,400 incidents were checked and 109 decisions were overturned by the VAR, an average of one overturned decision every 3.5 matches.
The percentage of correct key match decisions rose from 82 per cent in 2018/19 to 94 per cent this season, with the average delay to matches caused by VAR at 50 seconds.
