Jacob Murphy said that he meant his incredible near-post finish against Dean Henderson for Newcastle United's first goal in their 5-0 win against Crystal Palace.
In the 14th minute Murphy was played through down the right by Kieran Trippier before firing in a spectacular shot from a tight angle to open the scoring. It continued Murphy's superb run of either scoring or assisting in Newcastle's last four league matches.

"I did mean it, yeah! When the juice is flowing, you've just got to hit it," Murphy said to Sky Sports after the game. "The defender's come out so it was going to be hard to get it through him so I thought, 'Aah, just shoot here.'
"We always knew that the first goal was going to be really important so I'm happy to get it and happy to start off so well."
Murphy's goal against Palace
Murphy also passed to Fabian Schar to score Newcastle's fourth goal, to bring his assist tally this season to 11. It equals Laurent Robert's club record for assists, set in 2001/02.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp lauded Murphy's crossing ability, even likening an earlier attempt that Alexander Isak headed over to the crosses of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
"He doesn't waste any time," Redknapp said. "This cross here reminds me of Steven Gerrard in his prime."
'We're in a good position, but we need to stay on top of our game'
Newcastle are up to third in the Premier League table and have won their last six matches in all competitions, but Murphy was keen to reinforce that he and his team-mates must keep going as they attempt to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the second time in three seasons.
"We're in a great place at the moment. We started off really well. We knew this game was going to be really difficult," Murphy added.
"[Palace's] away form recently has been top-notch. We knew it would be difficult if we didn't start fast. We started really quick and got our reward.
"We're not studying [the table] too hard. We knew a win today would put us in a good position. We're in a good position but there's a lot more weekends to go and a lot can change so we have to stay on top of our game and keep going."
