Over the past four months Premier League Primary Stars has been running weekly challenges to keep children and families engaged in fun educational activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to the end of the Premier League season, we teamed up with Sky VIP on our Roving Reporters and Hot Seat Heroes challenges.
These encouraged families to create a match report on the Wolverhampton Wanderers v Newcastle United fixture from 2018/19 or create questions they would look to ask a Premier League player.
Harry and Joseph, two participants who had each shared a great piece of work for the challenges, were selected as our winners. They were given the chance to speak to former Premier League player turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.
The budding reporters were able to question Carragher on his time at Liverpool, his all-time Reds XI and his work in the media after retiring as a player.
Attention to detail
"What you hear everyone in football talk about is attention to detail, and really explaining in as much detail as possible," said Carragher when discussing his role as a pundit.
"You've got to make sure you've got the edge on everyone else and, if you do that extra bit more work, in a few years you could be taking my job. I'll have to up my game with you two around."
Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. Aimed at five to 11-year-olds, the curriculum-linked activities cover Maths, English, PE and PSHE.
