Statistics can play a crucial part in helping managers make their transfer decisions in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Handily, there is a lot of data available for Fantasy managers on the FPL site itself.

How to access statistics

There are two ways of accessing these statistics: the "Transfers" page and the "Stats" page.

The “Sorted by” dropdown menu is set to “Total points” by default but there are 39 different stats to choose from.

FPL stats page

Here is a selection of some of the most useful.

Number of times in Dream Team
This shows how many times a player has been named in the best-performing XI of a Gameweek in the season.

Points per match
This can give a better indication of how well a player has fared if they have been sidelined for a period through injury.

Value (season)
This shows how well a player is performing in terms of points per million, in relation to his current price in Fantasy.

Form
This highlights a player’s recent output in Fantasy, determined by his number of games over the previous 30 days.

Transfers in (round)
This gives managers an indication of current transfer trends, showing the most popular picks since the previous deadline passed.

xGI (total)
Expected Goals (xG) data brings an extra element to managers’ decision-making in Fantasy.

xG measures, on a scale between zero and one, the probability of a shot resulting in a goal. Zero represents a chance that is impossible to score and one represents a chance that a player would be expected to score every single time.

In a similar vein, Expected Assists (xA) measures the likelihood that a completed pass will become a goal assist.

A player’s overall attacking potential is then measured by combining both their xG and xA to create their Expected Goal Involvement (xGI) score.
