Patson Daka has become Leicester City's first summer signing, completing a move from Austrian champions RB Salzburg and agreeing a five-year deal.

The young striker scored 27 goals in 28 league matches in 2020/21 to become the competition's top scorer and win its Player of the Season award.

He scored 61 times in 87 matches for Salzburg in all competitions over the last two seasons.

“I’m so, so excited to join this great, historic club," the 22-year-old told Leicester's official website. "It has been my dream and I’m so happy and looking forward to what’s coming next.

“I have followed Leicester from the time they won the league. I feel it is the perfect place for me, because it’s a team that fights for titles."

Daka's first interview

Daka has a chance to make history by becoming the first Zambian to score in the Premier League.

He will be only the fourth player from his country to take part in the competition, after Neil Gregory (Ipswich Town), Emmanuel Mayuka (Southampton) and Collins Mbesuma (Portsmouth).

The transfer is subject to Premier League and international clearance.
