After conceding four goals in their past two Premier League matches, Mark Hughes has called on the Stoke City defence to tighten up for the visit of Watford on Tuesday evening.

“Clearly we have to be a lot sounder defensively in key moments of the game,” Hughes told stokecityfc.com after watching his team lose 4-1 at Liverpool, then 4-2 away to Chelsea.

“A lot of the elements of our game are very good but we need to address that side of things because it’s costing us dearly at present.”
