FPL experts: Trossard heads top Maddison replacements

After being booked in Leicester City's 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday, James Maddison (£8.3m) will now miss the Foxes' Gameweek 12 match at home to Leeds United on Thursday.

Our panel of Fantasy Premier League experts are on hand to reveal their top targets to replace the Leicester midfielder.

Leandro Trossard (£6.9m) is my preferred replacement. Brighton & Hove Albion face Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 12 and the Belgian is top across the Expected Goal (xG) statistics for the Seagulls.

Geoff Dance (@GeoffreyDance)

Mason Mount (£7.7m) has produced both of his best points hauls this season in Chelsea’s last two matches, scoring twice and supplying two assists. He looks a key figure for the Blues under Graham Potter.

Lee Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

It never rains it pours in Fantasy - if we didn't have enough to deal with for Blank Gameweek 12, Maddison gets himself suspended.

I'll be selling him and bringing in Trossard from Brighton or one of the Newcastle United midfielders, Miguel Almiron (£5.2m) or Bruno Guimaraes (£5.7m).

Brighton have the standout fixture in Gameweek 12 so I would go for Trossard, especially if you already own Wilfried Zaha (£7.5m). Almiron is also worth a look, as Newcastle are very attacking at home.

With three of the next four fixtures tricky after his ban, I'm leaning towards selling Maddison for Trossard.

I have a challenge now as I am down to only eight starters for Gameweek 12. I'm looking to bring back Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) for the next couple of Gameweeks and am hoping his low ownership makes him something of a differential.

Maddison is a sell for me to allow me to increase my playing numbers.

It couldn't have been a worse Gameweek for Maddison to get the one-match ban. With benches already filled with Manchester City and Arsenal players and other injured players such as Reece James (£6.0m) to deal with, Maddison is a clear sell.

As a like-for-like replacement, Trossard, Zaha or Harvey Barnes (£6.9m) are the three I would look at.

Maddison is an easy sell. After the suspension, Leicester have three away fixtures and a home meeting with Man City. I like Trossard as a replacement this week at home to Nottingham Forest.

If you already have him, though, the Gameweek 12 match-ups aren't very enticing, but you can look ahead and prepare for good upcoming fixture runs for Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in Gameweeks 13-16.
