Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that Conor Coady has departed for Leicester City, ending an eight-year association with the club.
"I’d like to place on record our thanks to Conor for the incredible years of service he’s given to the football club – he’s been a brilliant footballer and above all a brilliant person, on and off the pitch," Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs said on the club's official website.
"He’s helped drive the club forward as captain, leading us into the Premier League and then European football, and had incredible pride every time he represented Wolves.
"While this move works for all parties, we’re letting Conor go with a heavy heart. He has given so much to Wolves over the years and will forever be remembered in the club’s proud history."
The 30-year-old centre-back joined Wolves in 2015 from Huddersfield Town and though he was initially brought in as a midfielder, it was in defence where Coady stood out.
Upon the arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo in 2017/18, Coady moved into the middle of a back three and played in all but one match during that campaign as they won the Championship title, securing promotion back to the Premier League.
In three of his four seasons in the top-flight with Wolves, Coady played in every single match as they secured memorable back-to-back seventh place finishes in 2018/19 and 2019/20.
Coady played 317 times in total for Wolves across all competitions, with 152 of those appearances coming in the Premier League.
He joined Everton in the 2022/23 season on loan and helped them secure their top-flight status.
The centre-back was also part of the England squads that reached the final of the 2020 European Championships and quarter-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
