Newcastle United have signed Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, with the 23-year-old agreeing a five-year contract.

“I want to repay the trust on the pitch, giving it my all, as I always have. I'm really excited about playing at St. James Park, I can't wait to feel the warmth of the fans.”

A proven winner
Tonali joins Newcastle after spending three seasons with Milan.
He helped them win Serie A in 2021/22, and played a big part in Milan's run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2022/23.
In total he made 130 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists.
Prior to joining Milan in 2020, Tonali came through the academy of Brescia and went on to make 89 appearances for the senior side.

The 23-year-old has also been capped 14 times by Italy, making his debut in October 2019.
Newcastle fans will hope to get their first look of him in pre-season against Gateshead United on 15 July. The club are also in action in the Premier League’s Summer Series tournament in the US, their first match will be against Aston Villa on 23 July.
They also start their 2023/24 campaign against the same side on Saturday 12 August.
