Bristol City produced an incredible result to knock out 10-man West Ham United as a third-minute strike from Tommy Conway gave the Championship side a 1-0 win in a third-round FA Cup replay.

The Bristol City forward capitalised on a poor backpass from Konstantinos Mavropanos to reach the ball before Lukasz Fabianski and then skip round the West Ham goalkeeper to slot into an empty net.

It took West Ham time to control the contest, but eventually they settled and Danny Ings had the first opportunity after he spun away from a Bristol City defender and shot just wide of the left post from the edge of the box.

Maxwel Cornet then sent his acrobatic effort wide from close range and Ings scuffed his shot wide.

West Ham's task to avoid an upset became much tougher when Said Benrahma was given a straight red card for kicking Joe Williams in the 51st minute.

David Moyes, making his return to the club he used to play for from 1985 to 1987, still saw his West Ham side still dominate possession but were unable to test Max O'Leary in Bristol City's goal.

After the match, Moyes spoke about his return to Bristol as his West Ham side fail to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2017.

"I love coming back into Bristol," Moyes told the club's official website.

"I know the city really well and I had some really good times here during my career, but just not tonight."

Bristol City, meanwhile, could be up against Premier League opposition again if Nottingham Forest are able to beat Blackpool tomorrow night.

Wolves beat Brentford in five-goal thriller

Wolverhampton Wanderers showed tremendous character to come from behind twice to beat Brentford 3-2 after extra-time in a thrilling third-round FA Cup replay at Molineux.

Wolves made the stronger start but it was Brentford who took the lead through former Wolves defender Nathan Collins as he turned and fired home in the 13th minute after Kristoffer Ajer's shot was saved.

Wolves responded well though as Pablo Sarabia failed to convert following a block on Nelson Semedo's initial effort, while Thomas Strakosha denied Toti.

The equaliser eventually came when Semedo struck at the second time of asking for only his third goal for the club.

But Neal Maupay restored Brentford's advantage just after half-time when a VAR check deemed him not to be offside.

Wolves refused to be beaten though and 18-year-old academy graduate Nathan Fraser, who had only been on the pitch for two minutes, drove a superb effort into the far corner to make it 2-2 on 72 minutes and force extra-time.

Wolves completed the turnaround when second-half substitute Pedro Neto was fouled for a penalty. Matheus Cunha stepped up and sent the ball into the bottom-left corner.

Collins then thought he had got his second of the match, but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Wolves' victory means they will be facing Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns in the next round.

Luton survive scare to win

Luton Town came from behind to beat League One side Bolton Wanderers 2-1 thanks to goals from Tahith Chong and Chiedozie Ogbene.

The Hatters went behind when Dion Charles struck from close range in the 11th minute but Chong ensured Bolton's lead would not last long as he sent the ball into the bottom-right corner only four minutes later.

The contest was open throughout as both sides created numerous chances to score.

Bolton's Victor Adeboyejo produced an audacious 45-yard effort that was tipped on to the crossbar by Tim Krul and shortly after Jordan Clark hit a post before Bolton 'keeper Nathan Baxter made a fine double save.

Eventually Luton found their second goal on 57 minutes when a team move ended with Ogbene getting on the end of Carlton Morris' cross and lifted the ball into the roof of the net.

Rob Edwards' side then had to survive a scare as Charles' clever finish was ruled out for offside.

Victory for the Hatters means they have set up an all-Premier League tie as they will face either Crystal Palace or Everton, who play tomorrow night.
