The Magpies have three matches in May, with their final match on Sunday 19 May at Brentford.
Joelinton has been a key figure for Newcastle this season, making 16 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
The Brazilian joins Nick Pope, Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock among the notable absentees for the Magpies, with Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy close to making first-team returns.
Newcastle are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round.
Eddie Howe's side then visit Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday 30 January.
Newcastle have lost their last four matches in the competition and currently sit 10th in the table.
