Saturday's mouthwatering meeting between Manchester City and Chelsea has all the hallmarks of another Premier League classic.

City are on a run of 11 consecutive wins across all competitions and sit two points off leaders Liverpool with a match in hand, while EFL Cup finalists Chelsea are looking for a third straight victory.

The two teams produced an epic 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge in November - and the reverse fixture had it all, including a last-gasp equaliser by a former player. Here is a reminder of how one of the greatest ever Premier League matches unfolded.

21 min: PENALTY! Erling Haaland is dragged to the ground by Marc Cucurella inside the six-yard box and referee Anthony Taylor points to the spot.

25 min: GOAL! After a VAR review, Man City's Norwegian steps up and sends the ball into the bottom-left corner, with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez diving the other way.

28 min: SAVE! Enzo Fernandez wins Chelsea a free-kick from a dangerous position and Ederson produces an outstanding save to deny Reece James' effort from 25-yards out.

29 min: GOAL! From the resulting corner, Ederson can do nothing to keep out Thiago Silva's excellent header that brings Chelsea level.

Experts' views

Shaun Wright-Phillips: "The run from Thiago Silva and where he puts the ball, from where he heads it from, is first class."

34 min: CLOSE! Phil Foden is a whisker away from restoring City's lead, cutting inside onto his left foot before sending a superb curling shot just wide of the left post.

37 min: GOAL! Raheem Sterling haunts his former club by putting Chelsea in front, tapping into an empty net from James' low cross.

42 min: SAVE! Haaland is played through on goal by Bernardo Silva, but just as the City striker thought he was going to score his second goal of the afternoon, Sanchez makes an excellent save to keep the Blues ahead.

45+1 min: GOAL! Man City work a short corner and Silva sends the ball into the box. Left unmarked, Manuel Akanji heads into the top corner to make it 2-2.

Michael Owen: "Akanji is left all alone because Fernandez rushes out to Foden, but take nothing away from him, the finish is first class."

FIRST HALF ENDS! And breathe! We're only halfway through, but don't be surprised if the second half delivers even more drama...

47 min: GOAL! Well we didn't have to wait long for another goal! Haaland adds his second of the match, bundling the ball in from close range.

Michael Owen: "It might sound easy, but I'm telling you, some people miss that. He's just making sure he covers all angles by covering it with his whole body."

60 min: SAVE! Cole Palmer does incredibly well to dribble past several Man City players before being thwarted by Ederson.

67 min: GOAL! Conor Gallagher tries his luck from 25 yards out and Ederson can only parry his shot back into the danger area and into the path of Nicolas Jackson, who brings Chelsea level again!

75 min: CHANCE! Malo Gusto misses a glorious opportunity to put Chelsea ahead, shooting over the crossbar from 10 yards out despite being unmarked.

86 min: GOAL! The champions think they have won it as Rodri's deflected strike from the edge of the box wrongfoots Sanchez and sends the City fans into delirium.

90+2 min: PENALTY! Chelsea refuse to accept defeat, and in the second minute of stoppage time, substitute Armando Broja is brought down by Ruben Dias.

90+5 min: GOAL! Having only left City a few months earlier, Palmer shows nerves of steel to send the ball into the top-left corner and end what was one of the greatest ever matches in Premier League history.

Shaun Wright-Phillips: "From when I’ve met him [Cole Palmer] and the way I’ve seen him play, he’s a very, very laid-back person. He seems to take everything in his stride and any pressures that are there, he welcomes them. He would have enjoyed that moment, not just putting the ball in the back of the net, being the person that they’ve leant on to take that penalty.
