For the sixth time in eight years, the players in the Fantasy Premier League Team of the Season line up in a 3-5-2 formation as midfielders continue to dominate.
The 2023/24 Team of the Season is notable for the number of high-performing attacking players.
All five midfielders and both forwards have scored over 200 points, just the second time that’s happened in the 22 years since Fantasy was launched. The previous occasion was the 2019/20 campaign.
In contrast, it has been a relatively poor season for the defenders and goalkeeper, with their combined 648 points the lowest in 11 seasons.
Indeed, not since Phil Jagielka’s 142 points in 2014/15 has a player made the Team of the Season with fewer points than Gabriel’s 149.
Arsenal are once again the most-represented club, with four players making the XI for the second successive season. Manchester City are the only other side to have more than a single player included.
Jordan Pickford (Everton) 153 points
Everton’s No 1 has combined 13 clean sheets with 29 save points and a position-high 22 bonus points, becoming one of six players to make the Team of the Season for the first time. Selected by 54 per cent of Free Hit teams in Double Gameweek 34, Pickford rewarded his backers with an 18-point haul across his two outings, the best return by a goalkeeper this season.
Ben White (Arsenal) 182 points
Following an impressive 2022/23 campaign, in which he came joint-second in the defender standings, Arsenal’s right-back has moved it up a gear to claim top spot 12 months later. There were improvements in every area, with White finishing on nine attacking returns, 18 clean sheets and 14 bonus points.
William Saliba (Arsenal) 164 points
An ever-present during Arsenal’s title challenge, the centre-back has been part of the meanest defence in 2023/24, conceding the fewest goals and keeping the most clean sheets. Saliba rose by £0.9m from a starting price of £5.0m, the joint-biggest increase for a defender, level with Pedro Porro.
Gabriel (Arsenal) 149 points
The Brazilian completes an all-Arsenal back line in the Team of the Season. Gabriel has stood out for his goal threat, with his 28 shots in the box and 25 headed chances both placing second among defenders. He has scored three goals or more in each of the past three seasons.
Cole Palmer (Chelsea) 244 points
Despite not starting a match for Chelsea until Gameweek 7, Palmer has gone on to produce a league-high 10 double-figure hauls and finish top of the player standings on 244 points. In doing so, he has eclipsed the best seasons of Chelsea legends Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba.

Phil Foden (Man City) 230 points
The 2023/24 EA SPORTS Player of the Season, Foden has surpassed his previous best total by nearly 90 points to make his first appearance in the FPL Team of the Season. His stellar campaign has been underpinned by exceptional finishing as he scored 19 goals from an Expected Goals (xG) total of only 10.17. No other player exceeded their xG by such a big margin.
Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) 226 points
A run of four double-digit scores in five matches between Gameweeks 22 and 26 took Saka’s ownership above seven million, a record for a midfielder. Saka has become a reliable source of points under Mikel Arteta, amassing over 600 across the last three seasons.
Son Heung-min (Spurs) 213 points
The South Korean was the No 1 transfer target for Fantasy managers on five occasions, including a season-high 2.1m in Blank Gameweek 29, just the second time in history a player has exceeded the two million mark in a Gameweek. Son’s total of 213 points included an impressive 70 points in seven matches, starting with a hat-trick away to Burnley in Gameweek 4.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) 211 points
Salah makes a record-extending seventh successive appearance in the FPL Team of the Season. While Frank Lampard and Harry Kane have also made seven appearances, they weren’t able to do so in consecutive seasons. Salah has thrived under Jurgen Klopp, amassing 1,741 points during the German's reign at Liverpool, giving the Egyptian a strong claim to being the greatest Fantasy asset of all time.
Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) 228 points
No player could better Watkins’ 37 attacking returns in 2023/24 Fantasy. His all-round style of play has seen him combine 19 goals with 18 assists and finish on 228 points, making him the top-scoring forward. He becomes the sixth Aston Villa player ever to make the FPL Team of the Season, and the first since Emiliano Martinez in 2020/21.
Erling Haaland (Man City) 217 points
The Castrol Golden Boot winner with 27 goals, Man City’s Norwegian has broken new ground in FPL this season. In Gameweek 6, Haaland became the most-captained player ever, with 8.1m managers handing him the armband for a home encounter with Nottingham Forest. His staggering 91.5 per cent ownership in that round also set an all-time record.
