Manchester City's Julian Alvarez scored the opening goal as Argentina beat Canada 2-0 to reach the Copa America 2024 final.

Alvarez put the FIFA World Cup 2022 champions ahead on 22 minutes in the semi-final with a close-range finish, before Lionel Messi struck six minutes after the break.

Argentina's starting line-up featured five Premier League players: Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez and Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero.

Argentina will now face either Uruguay or Colombia in the final, which takes place on Monday 15 July, at 01:00 BST.

The second semi-final match will see Liverpool team-mates Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz face each other for Uruguay and Colombia respectively.

Spain reach EURO 2024 final

Spain took a step closer to UEFA EURO 2024 glory as they advanced to the final after a 2-1 comeback victory over France.

Chelsea's Marc Cucurella and Man City midfielder Rodri played the full 90 minutes as Spain, who won the competition in 2008 and 2012, now get ready to face the winner of Wednesday's match between Netherlands and England.
