Ipswich Town have signed Hull City’s 2023/24 Player of the Year, Jacob Greaves.
The 23-year-old centre-back has agreed a five-year deal with the club and becomes Ipswich's third signing of the summer, after the acquisitions of winger Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea and former West Ham United defender Ben Johnson.

“I’ve spoken to the [manager] Kieran [McKenna] several times and those conversations have made me very excited for the future here. We spoke about tactics, playing style and life off the pitch and every time we’ve spoken it’s been spot on,” Greaves told the club's official website.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to step up to the Premier League and I cannot wait to get started.”
Ipswich boss McKenna added: “He is a very talented, technical and athletic left-sided defender who has performed very well in the Championship and is ready to make the step up to the Premier League at this point in his career.
“We feel this is the right environment and club for him to do that in and he is a good character who will bring qualities to the group and culture we have built here.”
Who is Jacob Greaves?
Greaves joined Hull's youth set-up in 2008 and progressed through the academy.
He signed his first professional deal in 2019 and spent time on loan with League Two side Cheltenham Town before returning to Hull in 2020/21 to make his senior debut for the club.
Greaves has been ever-present in Hull’s defence across the past four campaigns, making 177 first-team appearances in all competitions.
Such was his impact last season, Greaves was named Hull's Player of the Year, as the club finished seventh, narrowly missing out on a spot in the playoffs by three points. He was also included in the Championship's Team of the Season.
Ipswich supporters could get their first look of Greaves in pre-season on 20 July against Shakhtar Donetsk.
They make their Premier League return against Liverpool at Portman Road on Saturday 17 August.
