“This move is a dream come true. I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Jorgensen told the official club website.
“I always liked watching Chelsea because I watched a lot of Petr Cech growing up, so Chelsea were one of my favourite teams to follow.”
Who is Filip Jorgensen?
Jorgensen joined the Villarreal youth set-up in 2017 and progressed through the ranks before his promotion to the first team last season. He made 36 appearances in LaLiga, keeping six clean sheets.
Born in Sweden, he represented his country of birth at Under-16 and Under-17 levels before switching allegiance to Denmark, the country of his father, and playing for their Under-21 side.
What type of player is he?
Jorgensen is seen as fitting Enzo Maresca’s style of play as he is very comfortable with the ball at his feet. He is also a strong shot-stopper, leading the way in LaLiga last season for saves, with 143.
How will he fit in at Chelsea?
It is likely that Jorgensen will compete with Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic for the No 1 spot at Stamford Bridge. The latter made more appearances for Chelsea last season after Sanchez suffered an injury in December.
Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergstrom are the other goalkeepers, while Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future at the club is uncertain, having spent last season on loan at Real Madrid.
Chelsea's 2024/25 transfer activity
Jorgensen joins Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga and Caleb Wiley as summer recruits, while Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech and Malang Sarr are the major exits.

When will Jorgensen make his debut?
He will join Chelsea on their tour of the United States, where the Blues' next match is against Club America on 1 August in Atlanta. Chelsea open their Premier League season at home to Manchester City on 18 August.
