The 2024 FIFPRO Men’s World 11 nominees have been revealed, spotlighting the top 26 players from clubs across Europe.
The Premier League dominates the nominations, with 11 players included - more than any other league.
Among the nominees are familiar names like Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Virgil van Dijk, alongside new talents such as Cole Palmer, who makes his first appearance on the shortlist.
Manchester City’s super seven
City’s high tally of nominations — including De Bruyne, Haaland, Rodri, Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Phil Foden and Ederson — is a testament to their record-breaking 2023/24 campaign.
They won a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title, alongside triumphs in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
In 38 league matches, Pep Guardiola’s squad secured 28 wins, netted 96 goals, and amassed 91 points, all while remaining unbeaten at home.
Cole Palmer's breakout year
Cole Palmer enjoyed a memorable breakthrough season at Chelsea after signing from City in the summer of 2023; he scored 22 goals and registered 11 assists in the Premier League.
His form for the Blues earned him a place on England's plane to Euro 2024, where he scored in the final against Spain with a stunning strike from outside the box.
Palmer's impressive campaign was capped by him winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award for 2023/24.
Emi Martinez's influence
Emiliano Martinez’s efforts helped Aston Villa qualify for European competition for the first time since 1984, as he made 95 saves and kept eight clean sheets in the 2023/24 Premier League season.
On the international stage, Martinez continued his heroics, shutting out Colombia in the 2024 Copa America Final as Argentina lifted the trophy.
Legends and newcomers
Lionel Messi receives his 18th nomination, extending his record as the most-nominated player in the award's history, with Cristiano Ronaldo close behind on 16.
Meanwhile, young players like Jamal Musiala, Jeremie Frimpong and Lamine Yamal earn their first nominations.
How the World 11 is chosen
The FIFPRO Men’s World 11 is the only global football award decided exclusively by professional players. Over 28,000 footballers from 70 countries around the world cast their votes, selecting three players in each position based on their performances from 21 August 2023 to 14 July 2024.
The final line-up will feature a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards, with the final spot going to the remaining outfield player who received the next highest number of votes.
FIFA and FIFPRO will announce the Men’s World 11 at The Best FIFA Football Awards on 9 December.
