The 2024 FIFPRO Men's World 11 has been revealed, with Premier League players making up almost half of the team.

Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Ederson, and Virgil van Dijk all secured places in the prestigious final line-up, which was voted for by 28,000 professional footballers in 70 countries, based on performances from 21 August 2023 to 14 July 2024.

The goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards with the most votes in their position made it into the World 11. The 11th place in the side was given to the outfield player with the next highest number of votes.

La Liga and Ligue 1 were the only other leagues represented, courtesy of six Real Madrid players. These include Kylian Mbappe, who was still at Paris Saint-Germain in 2023/24, and Toni Kroos, who has now retired.

His ability to play with his feet is integral to Pep Guardiola’s set-up, with the Brazilian averaging 35.4 passes per game at an 85.9 per cent accuracy rate – the highest among Premier League goalkeepers.

Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

The towering centre-back was once again the backbone of Liverpool’s defence, playing 48 matches across all competitions.

A standout moment came in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, where he led a team of youngsters against Chelsea, scoring a late winner and keeping a clean sheet.

Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)

One of the Premier League’s most consistent creators, De Bruyne earned his fifth consecutive World 11 selection.

Despite injuries limiting him to 26 appearances in all competitions in 2023/24, the Belgian still contributed 24 goal involvements (scored six, assisted 18) and was a key player in Man City retaining the title.

De Bruyne's vision, passing range, and ability to turn games with a single action earn him the respect and admiration of his peers, year after year.

Rodri (Man City)

The talismanic midfielder was instrumental for both club and country, helping City to win their record fourth consecutive league title before being named Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024 as Spain lifted the trophy.

His passing accuracy (92.3 per cent) and domination in City’s midfield were pivotal to their domestic and European campaigns.

Since Rodri's debut for City in 2019, they have lost 21 per cent of matches without him in the team, compared to 11 per cent with him.

Erling Haaland (Man City)

Aged only 24, Haaland is in the FIFPRO Men's World 11 for the fourth consecutive year. The Norwegian secured his second Premier League Golden Boot award in 2024, having netted 27 goals in 31 Premier League matches as Man City became the first English club to win four top-flight titles in a row.

Haaland's consistency extended to the international stage, where he netted seven times in just four matches for Norway in 2023/24. He has since become his country's all-time top scorer, surpassing the record of 33 goals set by Jorgen Juve in 1937.

One Lion in the line-up

While England's top division is well represented in the FIFPRO Men's World XI, the national team only has one player in it - Jude Bellingham. The Real Madrid midfielder received the most votes from his peers (11,176).

Meanwhile, Argentina icon Lionel Messi, who last year set a record of 17 successive selections for the World 11, has been omitted for the first time since 2006. The award was established by FIFPRO in 2005.
