Aston Villa have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Dutch winger Donyell Malen.
The 25-year-old is Villa's first signing of the January transfer window after a productive spell in Germany, netting 39 goals and providing 20 assists in 132 appearances.
His arrival at the Bundesliga club in 2021 followed Jadon Sancho’s exit to Manchester United, with Malen filling the void as a key attacking threat. This season, playing under Nuri Sahin, Malen has three goals from 14 Bundesliga appearances, mainly from off the bench.
An Ajax academy product, he later joined Arsenal’s youth set-up at the age of 16.
After two years in north London, he transferred to PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2017, where he contributed 79 goals (55 scored, 24 assists) in 116 appearances.
Malen has earned 41 caps for the Netherlands, including at UEFA EURO 2024, where he started their semi-final defeat against England.
When could he make his debut?
Villa are next in Premier League action at Everton, before a trip to Malen's former team Arsenal before then hosting West Ham United.
