Craig Shakespeare says Leicester City have made the "perfect choice" in appointing Michael Appleton as his assistant manager for the 2017/18 Premier League season.
“During his transition from a player to a coach, before later becoming a manager, Michael has already achieved great success in the game," Shakespeare said of Appleton.
"He has been acknowledged by many as one of the most talented and knowledgeable coaches in English football. That expertise, as well as his excellent coaching acumen, made him the perfect choice."
Appleton, who led Oxford United to automatic promotion from League Two and two Football League Trophy finals in three seasons as first-team manager, will join Shakespeare on the touchline for the 2017 Premier League Asia Trophy.
The Hong Kong tournament kicks off on 19 July with Leicester facing West Bromwich Albion and one of Crystal Palace or Liverpool three days later.
