The Scout's panel of Fantasy Premier League experts give their thoughts on who to captain in Gameweek 21 ahead of the deadline at 18:00 GMT on Tuesday 14 January.

It's rare to feel like you have a chance when backing against Mohamed Salah (£13.7m), but if any week is the week for it, it's Gameweek 21. Alexander Isak (£9.3m) looks a great option this week against Wolverhampton Wanderers' patched-up backline, if you're willing to take a risk on his fitness. I also don't think we can ignore Manchester United's fixture against Southampton, with both Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) and Amad (£5.4m) looking exciting left-field prospects for the armband.

This might be the week where I look a little differently for the armband. My potential transfer in ahead of the midweek fixtures is Fernandes. The midfielder got an attacking return in Gameweek 20 and then again in the FA Cup at the weekend. Now facing a home match against Southampton, and at just nine cent ownership, he could be a great differential. If I don't bring him in I will likely leave the armband with Salah after his rest in the FA Cup and outstanding league form.

No team have conceded fewer big chances than Nottingham Forest this season and I think you can take Salah on this week, with Isak and Cole Palmer (£11.4m) my two preferred options. Isak has the form but I have some concern over his minutes, which is why I am currently leaning towards Palmer, who has averaged over eight points per game in home matches this season.

Ben Crabtree (@FC_CrabDogg

Isak is the obvious choice if he's fit to play but as an Erling Haaland (£14.8m) owner, I feel this is an opportunity for a big Gameweek if he can continue his resurgence against a leaky Brentford defence.

Nick Harris (@WGTA_Nick)

The armband stays on Salah this week for me. His consistency this season is unrivalled in FPL history. I can see him continuing his rich vein of form against Nottingham Forest despite their defensive solidity this season.

Gianni Buttice (@GianniButtice)

Salah had a rest over the weekend - but I can't help but be put off by his fixture. Sure, Liverpool are favourites, but what is the ceiling for an away team at the City Ground this season? Isak has the opportunity of a high ceiling at home to Wolves and also had a weekend off recovering from a knock. I will be backing the Newcastle forward with the armband.

I think both Isak and Palmer with home matches are slightly ahead of Salah this week. Away to Forest just feels like a game where the ceiling is low and it might be worth going against the Egyptian. If Eddie Howe can give Isak a clean bill of health in his press conference, I'll be captaining the Swede.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

There are Gameweeks where going against Salah seems madness. However, there are others where maybe there is an opportunity to go against the grain and try to back a differential captain. Gameweek 21 feels like one of those moments, with Salah facing a solid and in-form Nottingham Forest defence. As long as Howe gives him a clean bill of health, I will be captaining Isak ahead of a home fixture against a Wolves side who have conceded a league-high 45 goals this season.
