Aston Villa will face Crystal Palace in the semi-finals of the FA Cup following their 3-0 victory at Preston North End on Sunday, while Nottingham Forest will play in their first semi-final in the competition since 1991, when they take on Manchester City.

Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, scored his first two goals for Villa with a second-half double.

Oliver Glasner’s Palace secured a 3-0 win at Fulham on Saturday to reach this stage of the competition for the first time since 2022.

It also means the Eagles have won their last five matches in all competitions, while it is the second time they have won at Craven Cottage in the last month.

Nottingham Forest and City through

After a 0-0 draw over 90 minutes, Nuno Espirito Santo's side edged past Brighton & Hove Albion 4-3 on penalties at Amex Stadium.

It is their third consecutive penalty shootout victory in the competition, having beaten Exeter City and Ipswich Town by the same method in the previous rounds.

City, beaten in the final last season, came from behind at Vitality Stadium to beat AFC Bournemouth 2-1 thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush.
