When Ederson set up James McAtee for the fourth goal of Manchester City’s victory over Crystal Palace, he extended his remarkable attacking record as a goalkeeper and equalled a Premier League record.
It was the eighth assist by a goalkeeper this season, a tally that has only happened in two other seasons.
The pass to McAtee puts Ederson joint-third in the assists chart for Man City this season, alongside attacking players such as Jeremy Doku and Bernardo Silva.

Indeed, Ederson's total of four assists this season is equal to the third-best assist tallies of all-time by goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Ederson has accumulated seven Premier League assists in his career, two clear of Paul Robinson, who is above the totals of four by David Seaman and Pepe Reina.
"It must be a joy to play with Ederson," said former Palace forward Glenn Murray. "You can make that inverted run all the time and know he's got the ability to kick it 'dead far'."
Shaun Wright-Phillips says Ederson's assist tally could be even higher had his team-mates had been more attuned to his passing.
"It's almost like having another Kevin [De Bruyne] on the pitch, with those long balls," the former City winger said. "He could have had more assists this year if players made more of those runs!"
As well as Ederson’s four assists this season, goalkeepers Bart Verbruggen, Mark Flekken, Bernd Leno and Jordan Pickford have also got one each.
That 2024/25 tally is equal to the eight goalkeeper assists registered in the 1992/93 and 2007/08 campaigns.

But it was a mixed afternoon for Ederson as he hobbled off shortly after his assist. "He made the pass and said he felt something and couldn't continue," City manager Pep Guardiola said post-match.
